Madredeus and the spirit of the peace
I’ve lately been listening a lot to the music of Madredeus, in particular the wonderful “o espirito da paz”. The music and lyrics of Pedro Ayes Magalhaes and the unique voice of Teresa Salgueiro are truly spellbinding. Though I have enjoyed all the songs in the album, most of the gentle and soft, my favorite is still the more energetic “O Pastor” with its amazing cello. The lyrics are so dreamy, that I could not resist reproducing their translations here. If you’ve never heard “O Pastor” before, I strongly suggest you do. You can get a taste of it from amazon.
Oh no one returns To what they have already left No one lets go of the great wheel No one knows where they have been Oh no one remembers Even what they have dreamt And that boy sings The shepherd’s song
Adrift Still burns The boat of imagination And my dream finishes late Leaves the watchful soul
Adrift Still burns The boat of imagination And my dream finishes late All I wanted was not to awake

Thank you for the translation,I’m also a big fonder of Madredeus, whose songs and music are warm and fragrant, sad and sweet,I don’t have the English Lyrics for most of their songs, but the mere melody is splendid enough.
